As for yours truly, I’m sick *SADNESS* but I’m trying to keep up the good fight. Still writing away for you EU fans and with luck drawing more art, WHOOHOO! It’s good to see it back up and running!  YAY!

I love this show with every fiber of my being and I weep inside knowing that It’s off the air. I blame the writer’s strike for it’s demise, really. I know it was intensely expensive and the premise could only last so long, but I was hoping for it to run its course and we get the complete fairytale. One or two seasons more were all that were required. That being said, I would have been happy with one or a few made for TV movies to finish out the tale.

Sad to say, I don’t think that will happen.  Apparently there will be a comic book, which is fine, but I wanted the movies to see that actors up on-screen playing these parts once again. I will put this up in the realm of Firefly and Studio 60 as brilliant shows that were cancelled.

I have one word for you: Hobgoblin.

I can say no more, lol.

Presently, I am trying to get more art on the site. I have some pretty sweet ideas for it!  I hope the drawing gods are kind, lol.

Now a little something I would like to call, Workaholic Recipes!

Let me start by saying that I do not cook. Cooking requires time, and time I just don’t have anymore, lol. Thus, I have learned a few essential and easy recipes to help me do what I need to do. They might not be very healthy but they are fast and cheap! Here I will detail one of my favs, just for you:

Chili Pasta:

Ingredients: 1 box of pasta of your choice (I like Elbows or Angel Hair); 2 cans of chili (I like whatever is on sale, lol); 1 diced onion; 1 bag of shredded cheddar (or any shredded cheese of your choice); 1 bottle of ketchup, 1 half stick of butter (optional); all available spices in your cupboard.

Start by making your pasta according to the instructions on the box. I usually make the whole box at a time. This recipe keeps really well, which is why I like it, lol.

While you are making the pasta, put the two cans of chili in a small saucepan. Set it on medium heat. At this point I raid my spice cabinet. I generally buy one spice a month so I have a collection now. For this I like thyme, basil, salt, pepper, sage, some hot sauce and whatever else looks good. Once it starts boiling nice a steady, I put it on low heat to keep warm.

Once your pasta is made, drain it. Now, if you don’t plan on keeping it for long, you can put in the stick of butter now. However, if you plan on reheating a lot. I would avoid this step.

Next put your serving of pasta in a bowl and put your chili over it in whatever portions you feel like. I would start lighter and work yourself to drowning the pasta in chili.

Now sprinkle shredded cheese over chili followed by onions. How much again is a personal preference. I guess, if you aren’t an onion person you can skip them, but I love them on this dish, so there is generally a lot on my plate.

Now the last thing you put on this the ketchup. I know people think I’m crazy when I mention this part but really, it makes it. Now don’t slather the stuff. Just put a little and don’t mix too vigorously into your dish. It provide just a hint of tangyness that really adds to it.

Once I’m done, I put each individual ingredient separately in the fridge. DO NO PREMIX!  And Ta-Da! I have meals that take just minutes to prepare and drop into the microwave for a next few days. Its cheap and makes my life easy and I am fed. Might not be considered healthy, but I live off this stuff.

I love the dolls and costumes and I am always up to doing panels. Let me say that I saw a LOT of talent at Saboten this year. Phoenix has some serious artist actions going on! Not to mention the greatness that is my fellow guests, Armand Villavert, M. Alice LeGrow, David Doub, and Jolene Houser.  You too, rock.  Also, of course, Nina, the “D” in LAD did show as well on the last day, always wonderfulness!

If I took your info and have not responded to you, rest assured I will. I’m just backed up like no one’s business and will get around it soon, I promise.

I think my fav part of being a guest to cons is the free food. I eat like a horse, so I’m always hungry, lol. This is why I have given up entirely on dieting. I love food too much. I will totally pick taste over health. Though, before you ask, grease is not a taste.

Now for something completely different:

Nina brought something to my attention. Apprently, if you put my name in Wikipedia, I actually show up!  Yeah, try it. Granted it’s in a Manga Studio thing, but there is my name in bright and shiney print!  Albeit evil no-link-red, but it’s there, lol. Also, for other fun look-up stuff: Nina Darguzis has credits on IMDB. Also, feel free to look her up too!

We hope to have an official Wikipedia entry for Elysium Underground in the future. It’s in the works as we speak!  However, it’s not a huge priority right now I’ll admit. Art and story are out primary concerns. That, and of course, you guys, the Fans.

Let me start this by saying that SABOTEN WAS AWESOME!

I want to thank all the people that came out to support us AND those that have discovered us!  You guys are awesome! I also like to thank my Con-Stalkers.  You guys make it worth it and I love seeing you year after year! I truly hope I get invited back for next year. I’ll try my best to go to Phoenix Cactus Con asap!  Weeeeeee!

I’ll expound more on the awesome in my next post promise!  Right now, I have to return to catch up.  My email gets wickedly backed up when I don’t answer it.

Having nothing else to do but be prone or be unconscious, I chose to catch up on my tv watching. I’m always super busy and thus rarely get to indulge and thus Netflix and Hulu have become vital to my geek well being.

Let me count the waves:

1. Castle — Awesomeness cubed!  I’ll admit, this is not Shakespeare, and the mysteries are pretty easy to figure out well before out Hero and Heroine do; but it gives me what I want and Castle and Beckett’s chemistry is amazing. You get what you pay for when you tune in and I have to admit, I LOVE Castle’s family.  His daughter is the BEST!  I pray, for all that is holy that ABC does not screw that up!  They only work because they DO work! So I say to you ABC, don’t be dinks, you have a good thing going here.

2. Dollhouse — Joss Whedon is the man. Dollhouse had proven to be everything I wanted and more. It makes me think and honestly, it is one of the few shows on TV that have surprised me in a long time. Also, it helps that this season has been chalk full of Battlestar guest stars (I LOVE YOU APOLLO!). My fav characters has been November. I really hope they bring her back more.

3. Primeval — This British TV series had sat in my Netflix queue forever, and I have at last dived in.  I’ve only seen the first disc, but I have to say I’m hooked.  I love BBC TV, I am addict to most of their show. In this one, I was instantly taken with Hannah Spearritt as Abby Maitland and James Murray is just too damned gorgeous as Stephen Hart. I can’t wait to see more!

4. Midsomer Murder — This is a very long standing BBC mystery series that I have been following in fist and spurts on PBS for years. Recently, I committed myself to an odyssey of seeing the series from beginning to end with the trusty help of Netflix. I have completed said odyssey having viewed all available DVDs. There will be more coming I’m sure, as the series is even know still running. That being said, anyone that is anyone in British tv seems to have appeared in this series at some point or another. I have seen a VERY young Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Jemima Rooper (Hex), and Henry Cavill (The Tudors) just to name a few. I love this show. It’s quaint and silly, but I have a weakness for British murder mysteries.

5. Torchwood – Children of Earth — This was amazing! And I’ll probably never watch it again.  Don’t get me wrong, I was glad I watched it, but it was still painful and made me feel somehow soiled. That being said, I REALLY hope there is more Torchwood in the future. It would be tragic to see it end.

6. Venture Brother — So far, the series started off good enough. Wasn’t hit out the park, but I laughed!  I watched this online, so I didn’t have to experience the cock-up that was the west coast feed of this show. Still, I am anxious to see the end.

That’s it so far. With any luck  I will be adding to this list. IF you have any suggestions give me a shout!

I will be doing 4 panels there, 1 on Fri, 2 on Sat, and 1 on Sunday.  I will be raffling off 4 brand new copies of Manga Studio (2 Debut & 2 Pro) at my panels, 1 for each!  The software was lovingly provided by Micro Smith Inc. I will be promoting Elysium Underground at Saboten-Con and will be giving out free stickers and flyers to our cause! I also hope to be selling art prints for both EU and my personal collection. I will also have pages from Dark Moon Diary to sell, the comic I helped ink for the wonderful Bret Uher (penciller) and the lovely Che Gilson (writer).  I hope to work with both of them again in the near future!  As usual, I will be doing sketches.  I will also be giving out candy on Halloween to all the cosplayers!  You guys are awesome!

I’m very excited to return this year. I’m sorry that Erica Reis-Curry (the fantastic artist of Sea Princess Azrui) can’t come this year, but with any luck I will run into her again another day.  I look forward to meeting Chuck Huber, a friend of Nina Darguzis, the “D” in LAD. Speaking of Nina, she will be at Saboten-Con this year as well!  She will arrive on Sunday, so if you want to meet the “AD” of LAD together, come by the table!  As for the “L” in LAD…don’t ask, just don’t ask.

I am also happy to announce that I will be helping Phoenix College in, well, Phoenix Arizona, start a comic program! I am very excited about this!  Having gone to school of Sequential Art, I have to say that it feels really good to give back. Also, I have been asked to teach some of the first few classes: Pencilling for Comics; and Inking for Comics.

Feel free to sign up!  We are still in the infant stage and the school is still trying to see if it would be worth to make this a full on programs. Thus, we need the bodies to fill those classes to get this off the ground. So if you have an inkling to comic, manga, children’s picture books, comic strip and all, come one and all!  I would love to have you!

Lastly, my last shameless plug for EU, lol. We have wallpaper up on the site. Got and grab yourself one!  We are almost done with Ep 3 & 4, and I have drawing like a devil to get ready for the con and Ep 2. Nina has been papering LA, so if you see one of our flyers, take a look-see!  Also, feel free to vote on our pole on the EU website! We want to hear from you!

The stress level this relieves is staggering. This will also allow me to invest more into EU, both emotionally and financially.

Elysium has been 2 years in the making, and you have no idea how happy I am to get this up and running at last!  A new episode will come out the 15th of every month, and hopefully more art is coming very soon from yours truly!

The site you see right now is just the beginning of things to come. More art, more swag, more fun and games are coming and fast!  Expected to see the site grow in leaps and bounds!
